Frank,
OK I will pick on only you too. I don't have a problem with either using
the f word myself liberally amongst friends or hearing it used by
others, but it depends on the context. Call it protocol, or manners if
you wish. Using coarse language of any kind within a large public group
in an emotional tirade does more to decrease your credibility than to
enhance it. This is why you almost never hear politicians swear. But you
don't need to appear slimey or sickly sweet.
There was once a saying that: Gentlemen rarely swear, but when they do
you know they really mean it. Swearing, once it becomes common
vernacular loses its potency and simply debases the user in the eyes of
others.
If you can't say what you want to without coarse language then it's time
to brush up on your communication skills.
Bottom line is this: I, for one, am not offended by your language one
tiny bit, but when you debase yourself in such a way I don't take one
tiny bit of notice of what you are trying to say.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks this way.
Cheers,
Peter
