Dear Friends
In responce to the Global Climate Change Actions around the world tomorrow,
(December 3) I have found some good people to write letters to in the UK:
What these guys do:

#overview
"The Science and Technology Committee was established in 1979 and is
one of the main investigative committees in the House of Lords. It
represents a major forum of independent expertise, drawing on the
wide experience of members of the House.
The Committee's broad remit is "to consider science and technology".
It works principally through inquiries undertaken by two Sub-
Committees, constituted afresh for each inquiry.
Each inquiry leads to a report, published together with the evidence
on which it is based, setting out the Committee's findings and making
recommendations to the Government and others."
The Committee investigates activities across the whole range of
Government:
<including snip> Technological challenges and opportunities -
existing and future - which Government faces: e.g. resistance to
antibiotics, management of nuclear waste, human genetic databases,
innovations in microprocessing, and the implications of digital
imaging for the law of evidence.

It is with the deepest respect that I write to you today to outline my grave
fears on Climate Change and the current political inaction on this massive
issue.
December 3, 2005, has been nominated as the day when people from all around
the world will be taking to the streets in the hope of raising public and
political awareness of Global Climate Change.
In 1998, I witnessed first hand the devastation of the inshore reef of
Picnic Bay on Magnetic Island in Queensland, Australia. What was, the
previous year, a healthy ecosystem and a magnificent tourist attraction,
became in twelve short months a bleached, dying, suffocating tragedy. The
inshore reef is now a muddy rubble covered with sea weed. I do not believe
this reef will ever recover.
In the short time (5 years) that I had the privileged to live in this
tropical paradise, I witnessed the death of nearly all of the inshore reef
systems on every bay of the island.
It is with great sadness that I now understand that my children were two of
the most fortunate ones, they were able to see the reef first hand, before
it died.
I understand that one of the great wonders of the world, Australia's Great
Barrier Reef, will soon face extinction. I understand that there is not much
any single human being can do to stop the rapid decline, and death, of this
living marvel of the world.
I understand that there is not much any single human being can do to stop
the massive problem that, we, as a race of people, have created for
ourselves. It is with this in mind that I started a Climate Change Action
Group. And it is with this in mind that I write to you today. As one of the
worlds most powerful "think tanks" I ask you with the deepest respect, what
are you doing about Climate Change?
This letter is sent in hope that powerful and respected scientists such as
yourselves hold the real answers. My own eyes and global scientific research
has proven that Climate Change is no longer "science fiction" but fact. Your
recommendations and research guide the decisions of our political leaders. I
write in the hope that your Committee will pressure our political leaders to
invest NOW, into clean, safe, sustainable energy alternatives.
Yours sincerely
Anne Goddard
